In 1997, Marc Le Flohic created an entrepreneurial project under the name Optocom Innovation with the ambition of developing new laser technologies and democratizing their use. From 1997 to 2014, the company, renamed Keopsys, grew organically, developing innovative laser technologies of excellence. From 2014, growth accelerated with the acquisition/merger of several businesses into Keopsys, including Quantel in 2017, giving birth to a European laser champion, the Lumibird Group.
The laser is already over 50 years old, but it remains at the heart of new technologies. Scientific and industrial progress now enables lasers to be used in a wide range of applications for which this technology was previously unavailable. The transport, mapping, clean energy, healthcare, defense and space markets can now benefit from laser technology to improve their products and services or create new applications.
To democratize laser technology and achieve high production volumes, Lumibird relies on its industrialization and production capacity.
With 12 production and R&D sites in all corners of the world, Lumibird has an agile, high-performance industrial base.
At the heart of its industrial strategy, Lumibird manufactures its own components to produce its lasers.
Products are manufactured on line, using lean manufacturing principles.
Automation is deployed progressively to meet the need for increased capacity.
